Unite, the UK’s leading union, has negotiated a recognition agreement for its members employed by Panasonic Avionics Corporation at Heathrow and Gatwick airports.

The agreement ensures the workers have collective union bargaining rights when it comes to pay and conditions.

Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “Panasonic Avionics workers at Heathrow and Gatwick now have Unite firmly in their corner to deal with workplace issues and to negotiate on pay.

“They will have Unite’s full support for campaigns to defend and improve their jobs, pay and conditions.”

The agreement covers around 50 licensed aircraft engineers who carry out work on inflight entertainment systems for numerous airlines at Heathrow and Gatwick.

Unite regional officer Stuart Baxter said: “The enhanced recognition agreement allows Unite members at Panasonic Avionics to shape their working environment and create a fairer future for the workforce. Well done to everyone involved in negotiating it.”
