EASL workers secure inflation beating boost to jobs, pay and conditions

Unite has secured a new inflation beating pay deal for workers based at Edinburgh Airport.

Approximately 50 workers employed by EASL (Edinburgh Airport Services Ltd) backed a two year pay deal negotiated by Unite. This year the pay deal delivers a 5.75 per cent increase in basic pay alongside a five per cent increase in shift pay.

The workers will also receive a one-off £230 payment with the deal being backdated to January.

In 2027, the pay deal includes an increase of 0.5 per cent above the RPI inflation rate on basic pay and shift rates. A new bonus scheme will further boost take home pay by up to £250.

Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “Unite delivers for our members. This is a good deal for our members at Edinburgh airport which builds on the recent progress made with the company.  If you want better jobs, pay, and conditions - join Unite.”

EASL workers undertake various roles including customer services, drivers, and baggage handlers. The company has been in operation since 2019 and Unite signed a recognition agreement with EASL in 2023.

Carrie Donoghue Unite industrial officer said: “Our members overwhelmingly backed this deal. It will increase pay and shift rates above the rate of inflation alongside a one-off payment to recognise the hard work our members do for EASL at Edinburgh airport.”
