VIP drivers no longer walking out after improvement in industrial relations
Ministry of Defence drivers who transport ministers, senior officer and other VIPS, often carrying highly sensitive information, have suspended their strike action due to begin tomorrow.
A dozen members of the Unite trade union were due to walk out due to having exhausted all attempts at negotiation with their employer over a wide range of workplace issues including workplace treatment, management practices, and failures in leadership accountability.
Unite regional officer Keith Henderson said: "Following the strike notice, the MoD began more constructive talks and as an act of goodwill our members have agreed to call off strikes to allow for further discussions. The onus is very much on the MoD to ensure these take place in good faith and have a productive outcome otherwise the threat of strike action is back on the table."
Strike had been due to take place across five days on 16-17 July and 20-22 July.
